Who is responsible for your information

The Bargain Hub is the responsible party for personal information processed through this store. Privacy enquiries and requests may be sent to privacy@thebargainhub.co.za. Our Information Officer and complete legal business particulars appear in the Contact us page.

Information we collect

• Account identifiers, name, username, email address and verification status.
• Telephone number, delivery address, delivery instructions and location coordinates when delivery is requested.
• Orders, invoices, cart interests, offers, counteroffers, payments and refund records.
• For a bank-payout refund only, the banking information PayFast requires. The account number is encrypted and administrators see only its final four digits.
• Device notification tokens, notification activity, IP address, browser/device information and diagnostic request records.
• Product views, sessions and shopping interactions used to operate and improve the store.

Why we process it

We process information to create and secure accounts; fulfil orders; calculate delivery eligibility and fees; process payments, refunds and invoices; manage offers; prevent fraud; provide customer support and notifications; meet legal and accounting duties; and improve store performance. Information required to complete an order is mandatory. If it is not supplied, we may be unable to accept or fulfil that order.

Legal grounds

Depending on the activity, processing is necessary to perform a contract, comply with law, pursue legitimate interests such as security and fraud prevention, or is based on your consent. Optional marketing is not a condition of buying from us and consent can be withdrawn.

Service providers and international processing

Information may be shared only as necessary with identity and hosting providers, Cloudflare, PayFast, Firebase Cloud Messaging, mapping/location services, delivery providers, professional advisers and public authorities where required by law. Some providers may process information outside South Africa. We require an appropriate lawful basis and safeguards for cross-border processing.

Location information

Precise device location is requested only when you choose it for delivery. You may enter an address manually instead. The delivery pin is used to determine whether the destination is within the configured delivery area and to calculate the fee.

Retention and security

We retain information only for the purpose for which it was collected and for applicable tax, accounting, dispute and legal-retention periods. Authentication credentials are managed by Keycloak; card credentials are handled by PayFast and are not stored by this website. We use access controls, encryption where appropriate, audit records and secure transport. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

You may ask whether we hold your information and request access, correction or deletion; object to processing; withdraw consent; or complain about our handling of information. Some records cannot immediately be deleted where retention is required by law or needed to resolve a transaction or dispute.

Children and changes

The store is not directed at children who cannot lawfully enter a purchase transaction without a competent person. We may update this notice when services or legal requirements change; the latest version and effective date will remain on this page.
